Published by Never Lose Bitcoin.

Summary

Almost half of all custody search demand reaching our site is in Spanish. The two biggest queries are “custodia de criptomonedas” and “custodio de criptomonedas.” The largest audience for self-custody education is not reading English.

The single most common question format is “best.” Searchers used 34 different versions of “best wallet” in three weeks. They are not looking for information. They are looking for someone to decide for them.

The most common point of confusion is basic: people cannot tell a seed phrase from a private key, and they ask the difference at least five different ways.

Google Trends cannot see the Spanish demand at all. The term that drives the most traffic to a live custody site returns “not enough data” in the standard research tool. The demand is real and it is invisible.

Custody research is a planned, desktop activity. 80% of it happens on desktop computers, not phones.

Why this report exists

Every custody company, wallet maker, and educator guesses what beginners worry about. We stopped guessing. Never Lose Bitcoin is a self-custody education site, and its search data is a live sample of the exact words people type into Google when they are worried about their bitcoin. This report publishes that data, clustered and translated, so the whole industry can see what users actually ask.

Nobody else publishes this. Search data from custody sites is normally locked inside analytics accounts. We are putting ours on the record, and we will repeat it quarterly so the changes become visible over time.

Method and limits

Data comes from Google Search Console for neverlosebitcoin.com, covering mid-September to mid-October 2026, plus Google Trends worldwide data for the twelve months to October 2026.

Three limits, stated plainly:

Our site is young and the sample is small: 840 impressions, 119 recorded queries, 79 countries. Treat this as a verbatim sample of real demand, not as market volume.

Google hides low-volume queries, so 119 queries is a floor, not a total.

Trends values are relative (peak = 100), not absolute search counts.

Finding 1: The demand is Spanish, and the tools cannot see it

48% of all query impressions were Spanish-language. The top two queries overall, “custodia de criptomonedas” (102 impressions) and “custodio de criptomonedas” (94), account for more demand than every English wallet query combined.

The Spanish-language beginner guide on our site is our single most-shown page, with 198 impressions. It ranks around position 78. Demand is high, supply is weak, and ranking is poor across the board. That combination means Spanish speakers are searching for custody help and mostly not finding good answers.

The striking part: Google Trends shows almost nothing for “custodia de criptomonedas.” Its related-queries panel returns “not enough data.” The demand is fragmented across dozens of variants and more than a dozen Spanish-speaking countries, so no single query clears the measurement threshold. Anyone researching this market with standard tools concludes there is no market. There is. It is the biggest one we can see.

Geography backs this up. After the United States (267 impressions) and Germany (126), custody searches arrived from Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, and El Salvador, plus Spain itself.

Custody Anxiety Index

   1000 SATS

        Unlock with Lightning

        This content is restricted.
